Recognition of prior learning

At UniSQ, we want to help you on your journey at university and recognising your prior learning and work experience is just one way we can do that.

With recognition of prior learning you could be given credit for prior studies and work experience which will reduce the duration of your program – allowing you to graduate sooner!

Further information about recognition of prior learning is available in the Credit and Exemption Procedure.

Am I eligible for recognition of prior learning?

The amount of credit you may be entitled to will depend on what type of recognition of prior learning you have and what degree you are applying for.

If you’ve studied at university or TAFE within the last 10 years (5 years for some programs) you may be eligible to transfer some of these credits to your preferred UniSQ degree. Our credit calculator can help you determine credits you may be eligible for.

To be assessed for recognition of your previous study you will need to provide the following documentation:

  • A copy of your official academic transcript indicating the course/subject(s) completed, year completed and grade obtained (including details of the grading system), and weighting of the course/subject as a portion of the total program.
  • A copy of the course/subject description for each course, including the syllabus, learning outcomes and assessment items.
