Are you unsure if you want to study radio or pursue a TV production course? The Bachelor of Television and Radio Production major that’s right for you will vary depending on your interests and goals. At UniSQ we have two different majors to choose from.

Radio Production - When you study radio at UniSQ you will analyse and build practical skills in on-air presenting, producing, scriptwriting, commercial production, outside broadcasts, promotions, music, content programming, podcasting and radio sales and management with our Radio Production course. You will learn the art of presenting and engaging with your audience, how to produce an interesting and relevant program, legal obligations, use of social media, live crosses and outside broadcasting.

Television Production - Explore opportunities that are available in the diverse and evolving television industry through both the theoretical and practical understanding of the industry. In our TV Production courses you will learn about distribution channels, the role of social media, streaming product and the various alternative media spaces that exist. Become industry ready for an exciting career in TV and enhance your skillset further by linking your Television Production major with other disciplines such as Film, Journalism, IT, Radio or Marketing.

Continue to enhance your skills and knowledge and use your Bachelor of Television and Radio Production as a stepping-stone to further studies, such as our Bachelor of Creative Arts (Honours). 

As a Media & Communications student at UniSQ you will have the opportunity to put your learnings into practice and become career ready with practical experience through our state-of-the-art Media Centre and collaborations with many major broadcasters and production houses

If you choose a Radio Production course you will meet the right people during your industry placements with reputable broadcasters such as Southern Cross Austereo, ABC radio, Grant Broadcasting, NOVA and community broadcasters. Continue to enhance your skills when you study radio at UniSQ with our well-equipped radio studios. These studios give you the opportunity to develop your audio productions and benefit from our very own 24/7 radio station, Phoenix Radio.

When you study TV Production courses at UniSQ you will engage in professional experience place with television broadcasters and attend on-campus residential schools to apply the theory you’re learning to real-world scenarios and productions. Benefit from UniSQ’s connections with industry such as Channel Nine and Seven, leading outside broadcaster NEP in Sydney and Melbourne and Fox Sport in Sydney.

University pathway programs provide students with an entry point to their chosen TV Production courses or Radio Production courses without an ATAR score. At UniSQ our pathways accommodate different students’ needs, whether you haven’t study for some time, have completed a TAFE or VET qualification, have not completed high school or your goals have change.

The time it takes you to study Radio or TV Production courses will vary depending on your study mode as well as the education provider you choose.

In general, bachelors degrees take the majority of students 3-4 years to complete.

At UniSQ, a Bachelor Television and Radio production course will take you approximately three years to complete. Some students choose to study part-time which increases the time it takes to finish the required courses. 

Balance your life, work and family commitments by studying our Bachelor of Television and Radio Production where and when it suits you. You can choose to immerse yourself in on-campus study or learn your TV Production courses and Radio Production course subject theory online and attend campus when necessary for residential schools or practical experience - the choice is yours.

In most instances, to qualify for entry into undergraduate degree TV and Radio Production courses such as a Bachelor of Television and Radio Production you need to meet a minimum ATAR and assumed knowledge. ‘Assumed knowledge’ is the term we use to explain the minimum level of knowledge we presume you have in some subjects before you start your degree.

If you don’t have an ATAR, don’t worry! You can partake in an interview to apply for entry to study Radio or TV Production courses at UniSQ.
