As a secondary school teacher you will have the power to make a difference in the lives of young people from Years 7 to 12. UniSQ Secondary Education programs will prepare you to teach in two subject areas. You’ll study specific discipline courses in your two chosen teaching areas in your Education studies. You’ll also be able to enhance your employability and job readiness through various professional activities and industry networking opportunities. If you already have a Bachelor degree in an area other than Education, you can draw upon your existing knowledge to become a teacher in just 18 months.

What can I do with a secondary education degree?

Graduating with a secondary education degree means you’ll be able to register as a teacher through the Queensland College of Teachers. To be eligible for registration in Queensland, domestic and international students must have at least 51% of supervised professional experience in Australian schools.

Studying secondary teaching also equips you to pursue a career teaching in hospital schools, international schools, flexi-school delivery and traditional classroom settings. Teaching skills are highly sought after across many industries, from human services to community-based government organisations, recreation and tourism.
