Apply for Head Start program

Become ahead of the game and apply to study a Head Start course. Get started by following our simple step-by-step process.
1. Find your course
Search 2024 Head Start Courses from a variety of study areas to see what interests you.
It is recommended that applications are submitted prior to the start of semester for the best chance of success in the Head Start program. Check the Head Start key dates for semester start dates and application closing dates.

To apply for Head Start you must:

  • be studying in Year 10 (from semester 2), 11 or 12
  • achieve a minimum B average (70% or higher)
  • have a minimum of 3 high school student subjects on a relevant Education report card
  • have permission from your parent/guardian and school or education

Your parents/guardian and school Principal or Head Start Coordinator need to give permission for you to study Head Start by completing the Head Start Application Approval Form.

Apply online directly to UniSQ for your chosen Head Start course. Once in the application, type 'UniSQ Head Start' in the search box to get started.

Supporting documents

Attach the Application Approval Form and a copy of your latest graded report card to the application. These documents help us to verify that you meet the entry requirements.

You will be emailed a reference number once you submit your application and notified via email the outcome of your applicated within 10 business days. You can check the progress of your application at any time by logging into your UniSQ Direct Entry application.

Formal examinations

Details of your examinations for this semester can be found in your Formal Exam Schedule in your Student Centre, which will be made available to students 6 weeks prior to the Formal Examination Period.

These exams do not require your physical attendance at a campus or examination centre. The Formal Examination Period dates are available on the University of Southern Queensland Academic Calendar and Important Dates page.
