Indigenous Student Success Program (ISSP) - Education Costs and Accommodation Costs Scholarships

Opening for application in February 2020

In Semester 1 2020, USQ will offer a number of Indigenous Student Success Program (ISSP) Education Costs and Accommodation Costs Scholarships.

The purpose of these scholarships is to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students experiencing financial hardship. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis in the following two categories:

  • Education Costs Scholarship:  This scholarship is to assist students with meeting the costs of furthering their education.

(If a student has accepted a Centrelink Student Start Up Loan, they will not be eligible to receive the ISSP Education Costs Scholarship in the same period)

  • Accommodation Costs Scholarship:  This scholarship is to support students who have relocated from a regional or remote area in order to study on-campus.

(If a student has accepted a Centrelink Relocation Scholarship, they will not be eligible to receive the ISSP Accommodation Costs Scholarship in the same period)

Students may be eligible for both the ISSP Education Costs and Accommodation Costs Scholarships.

If you currently hold a preserved Commonwealth Scholarship (ICECS and/or ICAS) and you wish to apply for a corresponding ISSP Scholarship (Education Costs and/or Accommodation Costs), please be aware that you will need to rescind the old scholarship in writing before being awarded the new scholarship.

Each scholarship will have a maximum value of:

  • $2000 (Full-time student - enrolled in a minimum of 3 study units in the semester the scholarship is awarded); or
  • $1000 (Part-time student - enrolled in 1 or 2 study units in the semester the scholarship is awarded)

This is a one-off payment.

Should the applicant be awarded both the Education Costs and Accommodation Costs Scholarships the scholarships will have a maximum value of up to $4000 (Full-time) or $2000 (Part-time)
