NO WASTE and SIMPLE Hub Summer Research Scholarship Program - 2023

In 2023, the NO WASTE Pilot Precinct and SIMPLE Hub will offer ten summer research scholarships for undergraduate and masters coursework students. Students will be provided the opportunity to work with experienced researchers and gain invaluable research, professional and academic skills through engaging in a 37.5 hour/5 day week, 10–12-week intensive research and development project.

Students will have the opportunity to establish academic and industry connections and discover research before engaging in research projects and higher degree studies.

NO WASTE Pilot Precinct and the SIMPLE Hub are two major research projects run out of the UniSQ Centre for Future Materials and funded by the Australian Government Department of Education.

The scholarship will have a maximum value of $5000 and will be paid in stipends across the life of the research project (10-12 weeks).

Applicants must:

be a current undergraduate or masters coursework student in Australia
have completed at least 8 units of study
have a GPA of 5.5 or above at the time of application.

Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis with consideration of the following:

undertaking a related undergraduate program;
reasons for wanting to participate in the program;
project availability;
prior and active engagement with the Project supervisor; and
the academic standing of the applicant.

Additional consideration would be given to applicants who:

have an engineering, science or education background
competent with lab work or are open to trying new work
have an intermediate level of competency in Excel for data analysis

3. Submit application and supporting documentation to NOWASTE@unisq.edu.au by 5:00pm (AEST) Friday 29 September 2023.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by 6 October 2023 and are expected to commence on 30 October 2023.

Students must conclude their summer project by 26 January 2024. Please inform us if you're already subscribed to the trimester calendar so that we can adjust dates accordingly if possible.
