Overview

  • This diploma specialisation introduces you to spatial science and lets you explore global positioning systems, urban and regional planning practices, and engineering and surveying applications.
  • Develop your study skills and strengthen your knowledge in problem solving, mathematics and physics at a university education level.

Further study

As a graduate, you will be eligible to apply for direct entry into a range of UniSQ undergraduate surveying degrees, including Bachelor of Surveying Technology. If you choose to go on to further studies some subjects that you choose could also count as credit toward your undergraduate degree.

Career outcomes

  • As a diploma graduate, you will be provided with general spatial science knowledge in preparation for a career in a number of areas within the sector. 
  • Additional study within this field can further develop your skills and career opportunities, including careers as a geographical information systems officer, spatial scientist or surveyor.

English language requirements

You are required to satisfy the applicable English language requirements and this degree requires a minimum of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent. If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.

Degree structure

To complete this degree students must complete 8 units. Most courses (similar to ‘subjects’) are valued at 1 unit. To study full-time you would usually complete 4 units per study period.

Once accepted into the Diploma, you will need to complete online diagnostic tests in mathematics, e-literacy, and English communication skills to assist staff in determining your level of reading comprehension, written expression, and mathematical understanding.

Students who have completed four units of study within the Diploma may be able to exit out of the degree with an Undergraduate Certificate of University Studies qualification.
